Default Please help......front-end vibration...

My 99 A6-Q has a drive-line vibration in the front end (steering wheel, seat, etc) Starts at 60 mph, gets very bad at 80, then smooths out completely at 90 and up....tires are new and re-balanced and switched around, rotors are new as are the pads....could it be a wheel-bearing? I need to know so I can approach the dealer while it's under some sort of warranty...ideas anyone? Thanks!

Default Check the entire front end

You need someone to look at the entire front end; control arms, tie rods, wheel bearings. Also, I've read on teh forums that the wheels should be balanced on something called a Hunter somethingorother.

I've noticed a vibration between 60 - 65 mph, however, I JUST mounted up a different set of wheels/tires... I'm clinging to the hope that it's a unbalanced wheel.

Default probably not a wheel bearing...

I've had several go bad on past quattros and none have changed the way the vehicle drove, but rather just made increasingly loud low frequency growling noises.

Default Re: Please help......front-end vibration...Driveshaft was

PS: I found out rear output seal was just recently replaced, is the driveshaft indexed in some way? and if it is off, would THIS be the problem???

Default Re: Check the entire front end

Check out the rear rotors. It happened to me twice. I thought it was the front tire, then I thought it was the front rotor. Finally the dealer figured out for me although I did not feel any vibration during brake from the paddle.

These rotors suck! I had the front replaced at 11k, the rear replaced at 15k and 21k. I think they were made in France!
