Wanting Handsfree!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1999 A6 Quattro and it is an early VIN Production Date 9/98. I currently have a single DIN Concert Radio / Cassette and Six Disk in Trunk. It is wired for a phone in the center armrest as I believe all of the A6's were. The system is BOSE and I am wanting to ad a Parrot Bluetooth Hands Free Kit to my car.

I have read the numerous tech articles and have been on Parrots website and they seem to claim that I (first since I have no NAV the kit wont work) and secondly I need to purchase an adapter kit to hook up the Parrot system to my Bose for an additional $150. I thought from reading the Article (https://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec12.shtml) that all I have to do is make the cable and then use the mic from Parrot. I believe then that there should be a separate speaker for the phone in the Bose systems or will it run through all the speakers or is that just for the A4? Or maybe the $150.00 adapter from Parrot will allow the sound through the complete system?

Does anyone know am I throwing away $150 for the cost of a DB25 and 1/2 hour of soldering? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sean

You are right... all you have to do is tap into the cables in the DB25 in the trunk... All the wires you need are

+ve Unswitched
-Ve
+ve Switches
Mic +
Mic -
Speaker +
Speaker -
Mute

These are all available in the DB25 port as mentioned in the article...
I put in a Sony HCB 400 the exact same way... ran a cable from the trunk and put the BT module under the rear seat... IMO Do not try to hairpin the wires in the DB25 as that port has changed a bit every year and in my case it has some extra connections to the Steering wheel as I had the MFSW which has Vol control on the steering wheel. Play it safe and just do the tapping and no hair pinning... Good Luck

But if I am wiring via the DB25 then am I only receiving calls via the separate factory telephony speaker and not via the complete Bose Audio System? Thanks for your response.

True.... but it will mute the radio thru the Mute wire and pause the Bose Radio... YOu cannot tap into the Bose unless you spend many more $$$$$$ withe the individual disconnect speaker relay system Parrot will sell you and it can be hokey and complicated..
