Please help!! shifter linkage stuck!!!

I was doing some work and dropped a u joint down the back of the engine now the trans won't shift into D it has to be stuck in the linkage, I can't see the linkage or fit my hand anywhere near where I think it is!
any ideas please help!!!

Get one of those magnetic grabbers and fish around with it.

The item you dropped seems to be lodged on the driver's side of the transmission, up by the transmission mount bracket and exhaust pipe. It has a heat shield mounted over the transmission mount bracket, so you will most likely have to go from the bottom of the car. The cable connects right behind the bracket.
