Default Porterfield does sell race compound pads for A6 2.7T 2002+ with the non HP-2 Calipers

Following-up my post of last night, I sent an email to Porterfield this morning and got a back a quick response that the pads are available. While not expressly stated, I believe that these brake pads will fit a 2002-2004 A6 2.7T with the standard factory brakes (non-HP-2). The pads are in stock, and I have placed an order. Wendy of Porterfield said that there are so many variations of Audi brakes that they do not list them all in the catalog.

Audi A6 Quattro 2.7L Turbo w/2 pad front caliper
Fronts AP 915 R-4 $179.00
Rears AP 340T R-4 $119.00

The bonus is the front brake pads are half the price of the HP-2 pads (Audi A6 Quattro 2.7L Turbo w/4 pad front caliper:
Fronts AP 839 R-4 $379.00)

So, the previous postings of no pads being available are not correct. April was right (as she always seems to be). Thanks for the tip. VIR, here I come.

Original thread here

Default Awesome! I used to live a few miles from them. Would drive past the shop and smell fresh brakes

being made every day.

Andy Porterfeild did a lot of racing back in the day, and spends most every day at the shop. They can overnight stuff to most tracks (except Sunday) if you need something last minute.

Default Great! Great to hear the VIR trip is saved. EBC appears to have...

... much better pricing. I paid $180 for front and back (EBC Green Stuff).

Default Does it smell the same as brakes "cookin" at the track?

It's a very cool smell when you associate it with the fun of a track day.

Default I drive so slow, I dont even need brakes on the track, downshift slows me enough

Then I stick my feet through the holes in the floorboard and stop ala Flintstones

Default Good info. My personal experience is only with stock and EBC green.

With the stock pads, I had what I thought was a warping issue (rotors replaced at about 30,000mls), but some vibrating still there. EBC and a day at the track fixed all vibrating.

My track instructor at Summit Point (whom you should meet, April b/c she (yes, she) is currently 5th ranked driver in Grand Am, Sports Touring Class) was surprised at how well the A6 could stop, repeatedly. Of course, she was more amazed at how much power you can put down through the corners with Quattro.

http://www.grandamerican.com/standings/standings_Cupdrivers_ST_2004.html</a

Very much, but without the overlay of coolant, clutch, and hot rubber ;-)

Yeah sure. You've just gotten so fast with QTR, you don't need to slow much ;-)
