Just curious - where are you seeing 2006-2008 A6s for 10k?

I've been in the market for a 2004 A6 S Line or a 2002-2004 4.2 under/around 100k miles and looking to pay $6-8k, and really not finding anything.

I even have a friend who is a used car dealer looking through his channels and not finding anything out there...

craigslist, ebay. the only 2 worthwile places to look.
people do list cars for more, but you can call them and you can obviously talk them down to reasonable prices.

a 2002-04 a6 4.2 for $6-8k are you serious, they are all over the place for $4-5k.
try searching google for sites that do entire state searches on craigslist or even the entire craigslist...

for the 2006+ A6 for around $10k I seen a couple on craigslist, and perhaps ebay, too bad ebay doesn't show much older complete auctions... but honestly, i dont like the interior colors for the tan leather package in the 2006+ models. thats why I didn't buy one. the 2006+ mercedes models have a much much nicer interior...

its all about patience when buying a car. you almost need to not Need/want the car until you find a good deal...

I had asked earlier, but I think most missed it. Does the bentley manual run you through a detailed transmission rebuild on the 2001 a6 4.2?

This site can search all Craigslists from your zip to a distance.

nope. there is nothing "detailed" in the bentley. Just move, replace...

Is there any manual that a consumer can purchase which has a breakdown of the transmission, with bolt torque specs etc.?

I had seen a DVD set for $1,600 but can't quote it at the moment. I believe that I saw it on carpartswholesale.com.

Found it. It's actually closer to $1200, plus a $600 annual fee for all the newest info.

Anyone have any experience with this guide? It is from Bentley as well, so I'm assuming it's no more detailed than what I'd get if i buy just the C5 platform manual. In other words, I'm thinking this is just a "dump" of all the info they have, an all-in-one of all of the platform books they sell individually.

My goal is to find a book like my 3 volume Acura TL factory service manual, which has everything...except hands to do the work itself .

Anyone have experience with the Alldatadiy.com subscription for Audi's? Do it cover the transmission breakdown?
