Power Window is freaking out!

I think my car (99 A6) is possessed. When I roll up my drivers side window, it goes very slow and then stops before it reaches the fully closed position. The window then goes up and down about three times and then closes normally. The bad thing is that it only does this occassionally.
Anyone have the same problem or a fix?

which includes the control unit. This is a known problem with older A4's and some newer ones too. My car had all 4 replaced because they acted as you mentioned. Haven't had any problems since (40k miles)

I bought a new 99 sedan a6 2.8. When the salesman was showing us the one touch up feature of the vehicles driver window, the window went down but not all the way up. I freaked and demanded my money back and said the deal was off. I didn't want a vehicle that was already broken. It behaved exactly as you described, it would go up 3/4 of the way then go down by it self.
I think it was washed just prior to our delivery and that the water for some reason caused the window to bind in that position. If you remember, Audi's have a feature where if you get your hand in the path of the window, the slight pressure will cause the window to automatically go down. Of course that is a safety feature.
I ended up returning the sedan and bought a avante wagon instead because I didn't want a vehicle that already had a defect in it. I've had too much bad luck with cars starting in 1979 with a Peugeot (don't laugh) Toyota van (actually good vehicle) then the Infiniti q45 (10k in repairs in 50 thousand miles). Traded it in for the Audi cause tranny was going, rack had gone, and so did the 5th of 8 power steering hoses.
Anyway either the window is binding up in the channel or the motor is defective according to the dealer. Should be actually a simple repair unless your jinxed like me.

It is very helpful and I believe the power window reset/relearn is not in the paper manual.
I don't know if thismake a different. I pick mine up last week and is a A6 2.7T with convience package, cold, xeon, bose 200W.
