Default Problem With Bose CD Player on 2.7T

Just took delivery on a new 2.7T with upgraded Bose Sound System. One problem though...it does not play "homemade" CD's I record from my computer. I "burn" CD's at home on CD-R's with music I've gotten off of napster. These CD's play fine on my other car (Saab) or on my home system but the Audi Symphony CD player does not read it (it says Error1 which means dirty disc).

Anyone out there experience a similar problem??

I'm thinking of getting an aftermarket CD changer (Panasonic or Clarion) that might bypass this unreadability problem.

Default My CD-Rs work fine!

I have the Symphony/Bose as well, and I burn CDs in a Phillips audio CD recorder. I have had no problems playing them in the car. Perhaps your unit is defective?

Default I do the same with no problems (more)

Are you certain you've loaded the discs into the cartridge the right way? I experienced an "Error 1" for a disc once and realized I had put it in "upside down". Also, make sure you're burning the disc in the proper format. What works on a computer doesn't necessarily work in a CD deck. Burned in the right format, It should work fine.

Default Possible Solution

I have the non-Bose system and I started running into the same problems. I noticed that if I burned the CD-R's in various sessions and left them open for further recording, then it would not get read by the Audi CD Player. I started doing all my recordings in a single session and closed the disc afterwards. They are being read perfectly now, but the unit will not select the next disc unless it is a prerecorded unit. I have to manually go through all my recorded discs. I have Alpine headunits in my other cars and they all play fine!
