Default I have that problem too!
Won't eject and says "no cd" when mode is pressed. I just got my PhatBox but have yet to install it. Got it for $120 at 1stvwparts.com

I've got a spare 6 CD changer from my '99. Should work fine in your car. I pulled it to install my PhatBox...
