Default Programming Key for Seat Memory Settings

Hi, Just picked up a 00' A6 4.2 and am having difficulty programming the 2 keys to the seat memory settings. 1 key for me, 1 for my wife. The manual says to push and hold the memory button and hit the unlock button on the key but it hasn't worked. Can anyone give me the proceedure??? Please...thanks.

Default I did this on my 98 and its a cool feature.

It never worked until after my accident which I guess, the tech's fixed it after the door repairs.

Put key #1 in Car, turn on, make settings (mirrors, seats everything for driver #1)

Then, press the Memory button on the door with the #1 at the same time. You will hear a faint click.

Turn off car, insert key #2, repeat process, DONE!

I like it, everytime the car gets washed the little fellas move the seats around and such. I press the unlock key on my remote and everything is in order before I even step in.

I figured it out on my own, but again, it never did the auto thing before the accident.

Give it a try. Have fun.

Thanks for the info. So if i understand you i don't need to push any buttons on the key itself?? just put the key in the ignition and turn it to on then set the seats and mirrors like it says in the manual and push the memory and 1 button??

Correct, no button pushing on the Key.
