PS pump replacement
well the pump is squeeling like a stuck pig.
started to smell burning today so im betting the belt is starting to slip as the bearing seizes.
I can get one guarenteed from the wrecckers for 40 bucks ...
the thing look slike a breeze to change .. even in this -20C weather
but ive had Audis long enough to know nothing is that simple ..
what am i missing ?

HEAT
Sorry I couldn't resist.
Pump exit has banjo bolt, so be sure to get new crush washers. You know the correct fluid to use, & how to bleed it after installation?
Also, IIRC the inlet hose on my pump was a short formed curved hose. It was real mushy & soft & was leaking PS fluid when we got the car. I didn't get the formed hose but managed to use a short straight section w/o it kinking. If you replace that hose, be sure the hose is oil compatible. Possibly with the heat generated from the "squealer" your hose end may be breaking down too.

Agree on the heat! I need to change the oil in my wife's Touareg, and the thought of rolling around on the creeper at 20F with oil running down my arm will require procrastination. Unfortunately, the PS pump won't wait. You don't want to throw a belt.
Good tips on the PS pump swap. I'll bet that elbow hose ain't cheap.

go to airquipt dealer with your old hose.

Generally a LOT less expensive than OEM hoses because you're only buying the hose rather than new ends.
