There has been much discussion about extended warranties and I wanted to give my recent experience.
I researched extensively, STFA, and came up many options for extended warranties. I recommend you do this, there is a lot of information out there and it will help you become a more informed buyer. Thanks to everyone that contributed.
The warranty I chose was Audi Pure Protection Platinum (APPP). It is an exclusionary warranty 5 year 75k $0 deductible.
I shopped around received quotes from several dealers, 50 mile radius, and then contacted my local dealer. Even though there were standard prices for the APPP warranty the local dealer was willing to reduce their price. So it pays to shop around. FWIW I was quoted $2295 for 3yr 30k $50 deductible and the one I purchased was less.
Hope this helps.

...and yes, there is a lot of wiggle room in the warranty price. For me, it was worth it to find something that both the local indy shops I deal with and the Audi dealer both accept.
I found the list of items excluded one of the shortest of the aftermarket warranties out there.
So far (knock on wood), it has covered everything I expected it to cover. No suprises.

...and I got an extra 2 years and 25k miles (will last until July 2008 or 75k) for about $2k. It has just about paid for itself already between just a few minor items, but moreover, it gives that extra level of comfort that if the tranny goes, I'm covered.

..so that probably covers me there. $2k is a lto of money, but S6 stuff costs.
My concern is that nothing that breaks will be covered, and nothing that's covered breaks - that's certainly my CPO experience.... (i turn up the contrast here a bit...)
Thanks anyway Henry
