Pulled over for using a radar detector?

When I know I am about to get pulled over I take it off before he sees it because it pretty much kills all chances of talking yourself out of a ticket.

It seems there is nothing against them unless you are a commercial driver. Only two states have laws against them. Can they give you a ticket if they did not catch you speeding just for having this device. From legal standpoint NO....

It's my understanding that there are many states that have made the use of radar detectors illegal, by anyone. They're illegal here in California and I know they were in a number of eastern seaboard states years back.
