Cleand the car today and thought to my self, the front right inside wheel looks quite dirty, probably another torn CV boot. Doing another RS 6 exhaust, we put my car on the lift to confirm the adapter needs and, sure nuf' all black goop inside and a split boot at the middle crease.. I cleaned it up a bit. Will take car in this week. Should I be concerened with driving it around like this? Happened on th 98 2.8, same side. Good thing for warranty. Thanks all.

Stay off of dirt/sand and loose gravel roads until you get it fixed. Hard grit that gets into it will ruin the joint. Make sure that they do more than just replace the boot. The old grease has to be completely cleaned off. I had one damaged by a tow truck hook once but didn't discover it until later.

Had one done at the stealer cost me $50 in part $280 in labor, no warranty. Finally think I found myself a good indy shop 5 minutes from the house. Tested him out on the wife's minivan (sacrificial offering), was really impressed with the guy (thank God).. My extended warranty only allows for $65 hr..dealer is $95.00, this dude is $73.00 per. Going to give him a shot on my upper radiator hose (looks chafed) and have him do install on H-Sport swaybars once I order.
Again, on the cv...the joint itself should be fine just don't put it off too long. Enjoy the rest of the weekend CL.

Fun taking the back roads for a minute. Unlike you, I rarely get to drive out to the burbs so I welcome an escape from city stop and go.
See ya Monday.

just the boot. Treat steering boots the same way. Dirt can get inside and destroy the seals in short order.
