Is Quattro Multitronic going to be available with the redesign of the A8 for 2004 or with the redesign of the A6 for 2005? And will Quattro Multitronic be available on the S6 and S8 too or just the A6 and A8? Also when the A6 and A8 are redesigned will they continue to have the four cam, 40V 4.2L V8? Or will the new A6 and A8 have an all new four cam, 40V V8 with a larger displacement?

for 1.8t ( A4 ) and 3.0 ( A4/A6 ). The CVT chain is not able to handle the torque from the more powerful motors.
To my knowledge, the 4.2 continues with some improvements, in the upcoming A8 ( to be released very soon ). Power bumps beyond the 360hp ( S ) range will be handled by adding turbos ( RS ), or in the case the A8, a normally aspirated W12.
