Default Question about A6 Avant

I've been looking at wagons and I saw a 2000 A6 Avant 2.8Q. It looked like it had most of the options. They were asking $22,000, private part seller. original sticker was $42,xxx. Is it worth it to get the 2.8 or should I look for one with 2.7T or 4.2L

I guess my next question is, is the 2.8 and adequate engine for such a big car?

Default Its decent... Once you get to ~2800 RPM its fine, but that first start is sloowww

I'd recommend lookin for an allroad if you intend on driving it semi-hard or modding

Default we have the 3.0

It has plenty of power for a V6, but certainly not a powerful machine like the 4.2 or 2.7T sedans...

Default What altitude do you live at?

If I lived above sea level there's no way this car would be adequate, IMO. Go for the allroad if at all possible. TIP or 6sp if you like to shift (I do).

Otherwise consider a '95 S6 avant (assuming the current S6 is more than you want to spend).

The 2.8 avant was a 'compromise' choice for me, and I do look forward to something with more power on my next purchase.

At sea level it is 'adequate', but nothing more.

It is otherwise a nice car, just lacking in the power dept.
