Question..... lost 2.7t engine hole in the block, I have a complete
2.8 engine available, what can I do if anything to rebuilt the 2.7 from that 2.8? Can I use the 2.8 entirely and just swapp out the pistons? Will all the other 2.7 supporting parts bolt up?
Can I just use the 2.8 block and swapp the 2.7 heads and stuff?
thanks a lot folks for your responses.

Are you doing most of the work?
Just a glance at the model guide tells me that you won't be swapping pistons. Besides, if you blew it up, you probably don't have a complete set anymore.
2.7t = 81mm bore
2.8 = 82.5mm bore
AFAIK, a 2.7t upgrade is to use 2.8 heads, so why bother putting the 2.7t heads on the 2.8 unless the 2.7t manifolds don't bolt up (I don't know that they will/won't, however, this leads me to believe they will - built up 2.7t with 2.8 heads
If you are doing most of the work yourself (as I would be if faced with the situation) start by pulling the hole'd 2.7t out and stripping all the turbo related parts off. Then, try putting them onto the 2.8. Sure the 2.8 has higher compression, but it won't be the first 2.8t, and at stock boost with premium fuel it should be fine.
If you are not doing the work, it's probably best to write off the car, sell as is for what you can get, and move on.

2.7t I thought was 4blt mains and 2.8 is 2blt mains Block, umung other diffrncs
The upgrade to 2.8L heads I thought was for the Stage III and IV guys for the larger intake passages, necessary for the extra power gains.

Re: Buy a junkyard engine.
Yeah but I have that 2.8, that's why I was asking about using it. Called shokhan they said they had a 2.7 for me $2500, proly spend less than that to rebuild from that 2.8 no?

Re: How'd that happen?
timing slipped a tooth or two, I think water pump leaked on the belt. Re-timed the engine and it ran but nocked a lot found a hole in the block.
