I was curious to what kind of reliability issues if any, people are having after a k04 swap. I am looking at buying a 2003 A6 2.7 6-speed w/ 85k miles on it.... looks to be very well maintained and always stock. Weary of buying a car with over 80k on it and then beginning to mod. I used to have a 2001 S4 tip with a long list of mods, and it was a service nightmare. Now that I can have the option of moving to the k04's, i assume the reliability will be much better. The 2.7 seems to be a very solid engine block to continue working off, even into high mileage. If anyone has any experience with high mileage failures, please post. Thanks for your help!!

I'm currently appoaching 100 K (98.5 K) and have had no issues other than normal maintenance-related issues. When the K04s were installed at 50K, the heads were pulled to check things out. The bores, pistons, valves, etc. all looked new. If not abused, I think these motors have a lot of life in them.
I thing to check out - the 03s may use a different turbo than the 01/02s. RLG may be able to provide more info
Best of luck! A stg 3 A6 is a lot of fun
