the last 6 weeks. Including several people with photos and instructions on how best to do the wiring.
I personally have the V1, and the directional signal identification alone makes it worth the price of admission!

I find it amazing how many cops drive around without radar on. It could be that they have lasers or the instant on Kbands, but it just caught me off guard.
oh well, with the V1 I know where they are before I see them. :-)

V1 is considered the best around, but it was not upgrated for last 5 years. The best things about it is "direction pointers" and the volume control.
So far I have survived with Bell 850. I would say anything >$250 is good. The cheep detectors do not detect. And even worst they make noice on the radar's frequency. So the good detectors will pick it up.
But again the detector is a tool. It is helpful, but it is not a "100% cop proof" So you need to combine it with:
- look around for police cars driving on the same road. I do not pass Croun Victorias and Impalas until I am sure there is no cops inside. In NYC they use Taxi cabs to drive around. So watch out.
- watch for the brake lights of the cars in front of you.
- don't drive in the left lane if you can do it in the right.
- don't speed in the school zone.
- look for the paterns of the detector sound. on X band you will hear the increasing signal. On K or Ka bands you also might hear short "bursts". It also might be a cops, using "hold" button.
- There is no reliable detection of the laser. If you hear the "laser" signal from your detector and you do not see any red neon billboards, you might prepare you license and registration
