Default V1 & 8500: some insights

Both are excellent radar detectors!

I have run them side by side and here
are my *subjective* opinions.

The V1:

Love that directional signal indicator!
A bit bigger/bulkier
Takes a bit more to hardwire if
you get the remote display (remote disp
is well worth it)

The 8500:

Just a tad more portable due to size/shape.
Auto Volume reduction on constant signal
This is very nice feature.
There are some other cool features of the
8500, but they aren't used much.

As for sensitivity... They both do well
on the straights. On curves, sometimes
the V1 notices, and sometimes the 8500 notices first. I think the V1 falses a bit more than
the 8500, but it depends on the circumstances.
There is very little laser around here, so
I can't tell you which is more sensitive.

Bottom line: I'd buy the V1. A bit more
expensive though. NEITHER one will help
with instant-on if you're the leader of the
pack. If someone else is triggering I-on,
both will catch it at the same time.

Of course, NEITHER has surpassed the performance
of my ACTIVE jammer either. Unfortunately, most
of the constabulary around here now use Ka and
my jammer is useless.

Default Do you have a written or photo description

of the process? I wouldn't mind having mine hard wired

Default true, true. if you have anyquestions, let me know, i'll dig into mem banks

i did wire my 200 slightly wrong so if the sunroof was open all the way the detector lost voltage and did weird stuff... did a better smarter job in the A6.
