Radio Concert II problems: FIS not showing radio channel info (fault codes)
Hi,
I have following problems with my radio Concert II (Audi A6/C5/2001):
- Buttons are not illuminated
- Instrumentation panel display does not show radio channel information (FIS?)
I have already changed the radio to another one and it worked ok for two weeks. Now the same problems appeared again.
Otherwise the radio seems to work ok.
Is something frying the CAN-bus logic of the radio, what? Or is my radio necessarily broken at all?
Below are the fault codes (VAG-COM).
Any ideas what could be wrong and what components I need to change (part number)?
I guess the problem is not in the radio itself as putting in a new one solved the problem for a while.
VAG-COM fault codes:
Control Module Part Number: 4B0 920 933 J
Component and/or Version: KOMBI+WEGFAHRS. VDO D07
Software Coding: 00062
Work Shop Code: WSC 00730
Additional Info: WAUZZZ4B22N031864 AUZ7Z0A1919558
01304 - Radio
49-10 - No Communications - Intermittent
01311 - Information Data Bus
37-00 - Faulty
Control Module Part Number: 4B0 035 186 Q
Component and/or Version: concert II GRO 0008
Software Coding: 02001
Work Shop Code: WSC 02325
01317 - Control Module in Instrument Cluster (J285)
49-00 - No Communications
01305 - Databus for Infotainment
49-10 - No Communications - Intermittent
Best regards,
Sami

I am assuming you are in Europe, since Concert II was only offered in Audi TT, Audi A6 had Symphony Radios here in North America.
Do you have any devices connected to your car like blue-tooth, ipod, etc ?
and did you check if pin layout is the same on the both radios, anything out of ordinary could be a cause. in order to canbus fail there must be more voltage passing through the wire usually can-bus system uses up to 5volts on the line, so could be a wire issue or one of the devices is defective, could be cluster or cd changer or other device that is add on to your car.

I don't have any extra accessories like tele, navi, Ipod, CD changer, just plain Concert II (no Bose). I haven't done any modifications either. Stuff is like straight from the factory So yes, it could be a wiring issue. I probably have to remove the instrument cluster and radio and start testing the CAN bus wiring if it is ok between the radio and instrument cluster. I heard there is a connector in A-pilar somewhere.

Well, the problem just disappeared and radio button lights and dashboard screen started working again suddenly. Good news here is that the radio is not fried I need go through radio, instrument panel and A-pillar connectors for loose/bad contact somewhere.
