Default Radio Issue in my 2000 Audi A6 2.7T

I searched and searched the web and could not find anything on this particular issue. It has happened since we bought the car, but just getting around to trying to fix it. Ok, the radio/tape/cd works fine unless I press the volume button to turn the radio off, you cannot just press the button to turn the radio on. You have to put the key in the ignition turn it on shut it off pull the key out turn the ignition on again, then press the volume button again to turn the radio on, it might work. If it doesn't you have to go thru the same scenario again. They only thing I can tell you is that when we bought the car the radio was not working so the car lot put a new one in. I have a VAGCOM and it appears to be coded correctly. Not a big deal more of an annoyance. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Here's the really big question, does the radio turn on with out the key in the ignition?

My after thoughts are; do you have a Symphony I head and how do you know that the radio coding is correct for this car, one before the other I suppose, can you share the coding?

1.To answer your main question, Yes if the key is out you can turn on and off the radio.

2. Looks like Symphony I although two buttons are named different then some pictures on the internet.

If you have the factory Bose system the coding looks correct, use this link for further info. Ti Kan: Audi Symphony Radio

Because it's seems that a connector might not be fully plugged in or there is an issue with power load relay that will un-power loads when the starter needs full current until the engine is running and charging the battery.

When did you buy this car and was the replacement radio a used or recondition one?

If your able to pull the radio out with the four unlock tools this connector has the power feeds being #4 from the ignition source and #7 being constant power, I'm not sure how handy you are but a cheap VOM meter will reveal the problem with the radio out when cycling the key and pinning #4 for power.

Black 8-pin multi-pin connection III
1 - Gala (RPM signal) through m.y. 2001
2 - NF-Telephone muting through m.y. 2001
2 - Anti-theft alarm system Ground from m.y. 2002
3 - K, for On Board Diagnostic (OBD) through m.y. 2001
3 - L, for On Board Diagnostic (OBD) from m.y. 2002
4 - Terminal 86s - connection for switching on and off via ignition switch (S-contact) through
m.y. 2001
5 - Switched positive for antenna amplifier through m.y. 2001
6 - Illumination (terminal 58d) through m.y. 2001
7 - Battery B+ (terminal 30)
8 - Ground (GND) (terminal 31)
