Default Radio Removal frustration

OK, so I have the four removal tools and slide them in...nothing. Radio sits there nice and happy in it's place. What am I missing? any tips or tricks for getting this thing out? I have a very frustrated iPod waiting to be connected...

2000 4.2
still digging out in Denver...as another storm approaches.
Thanks a lot for any help.

Default Once the tools are clicked into place...

stick your fingers into the cassette slot and pull from there. If you cannot dislodge the headunit, the radio keys might not be inserted properly.

This is what the keys should look like when inserted...

Or if you have the navigation...

Once the headunit is out, here is how you remove the keys, by pressing the spring clip down and pulling the key out BEFORE you stick the radio back in.

Default It took me 1/2 hour and a few hurt knuckles to get mine out. As BD said, get your fingers in

the cassette and gently pull. I had to wiggle back and forth a bit to get it (I did not have the keyes, I had a ghetto set up). A few years of minor coffee spills that dripped there made it tough for me. I used a small knife to go around the edges a bit to unstick the seal. Once I got one corner out, I put a matchbook in there so it would not click back into place as I wiggled back and forth to free the other side.

Hope that helps and good luck!

I got mine off E-bay for a $1.50 for all 4. Then it was 2 for shipping. They work great.

Default I got mine from samstagsales.com...

good quality tools, no sharp edges, but a bit more expensive than the ones on ebay or from the dealer...
