This is in regard to the post yesterday. The mechanic now says that he has gotten the compression to read 120 in each cylinder - OK, fine, so who knows what happened yesterday. ANYWAY, according to the mechanic, the reason it will not start is that it needs a new Fuel pressure regulator, injectors and rail. Further, apparently this is a known Audi issue (?) and they are offering repair costs at steep discounts - injectors at $35 apiece etc.
Has anyone else here had this issue before? I did a search and coudn't come up with anything. The mechanic has been good over the last few years and does a great, reasonably priced job.
Thanks.

How can you screw up a compression test? Regarding the fuel problem I can see a fuel pressure regulator going bad but there is no way 6 injectors will go bad at the same time. As far as the fuel rail goes I have not yet seen one failing. Usually you get leaks from orings and seals, the rail is just a pipe that carries the fuel. I would suggest to get a second opinion from a respectable shop in your area.

Apparently everything all of a sudden DID start to leak from all over the place. Could the FPR somehow have increased the pressure, thus blowing out seals, o-rings and injectors?

It is possible they have messed with the valve covers, to look at the cams, (when they figured out the 0 PSI compression test) and have removed injector rail to get access. When everything got back together it is possible some o rings were installed incorrect. If there was even a small leak initially when the car did not start it would have smelled. Unless there is a massive leak the car should start anyway. Get another mechanic!
