Default Re recent post on CPO expiry date : Letter from Audi

I have a letter from Audi which states :

"CPO warranty is 2 years or 100,000 miles beginning on the date of CPO sale or upon the date of expiration of the New Vehicle Warranty, whichever occurs LATER" (my capitals)

In other words, if you buy a CPO car before the 4 year New Vehicle warranty expires you get 2 years or 100,000 miles extra, so a total of 6 years / 100K miles.

If you buy a CPO car after the 4 years has expired (which I did), you get 2 years from date of sale or 100K miles.

The other day someone said it always expires at 6 years, whatever. Not true.

Default strange

I bought a '00 that I was told had a CPO warranty that lasted until sometime this month. This was confirmed by another dealer. But the build date was May or June of 2000. So how is it that the CPO warranty was only good until Feb.? I guess its time to call AoA.

Default That's because the '00 only had a 3-year warranty.

In-service date was Feb '01 + 3 years Audi Advantage + 2 years Audi Assured = Feb. '06.

Default To be fair, Audi's language is, and has been inconsistent and ambiguous.

That's why I suggested making sure you get an answer in writing. From the AoA website, read the following paragraphs that appear on the same page:

Warranty Period
The warranty period of the Audi Certified pre-owned vehicle covers up to six years from the new vehicle in-service date or 100,000 total vehicle miles, whichever occurs first.

Any implied warranty, including any implied warranty of merchantability or warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, is limited in duration to the period of this written warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so this limitation may not apply to you.

Start Of Warranty Period
The Audi Certified pre-owned Limited Warranty starts the day you purchase your Audi Certified pre-owned vehicle. Although the Warranty is extremely comprehensive, it is not an extension of the original 4-year/50,000 mile New Audi Vehicle Limited Warranty. The Audi Certified pre-owned Limited Warranty takes over when the new Audi Vehicle Limited Warranty expires, and provides coverage for an additional 2 years or 100,000 total vehicle miles, whichever occurs
first.

Consistent, huh? Not.

More copy and paste:

The Audi Certified pre-owned Limited Warranty covers up to six years or 100,000 total vehicle miles from the date the vehicle was first placed in service as a new vehicle, whichever occurs first.

The Audi Certified pre-owned Limited Warranty takes over when the new Audi Vehicle Limited Warranty expires, and provides coverage for an additional 2 years or 100,000 total vehicle miles, whichever occurs first.

If the Audi Certified pre-owned vehicle original new vehicle Limited Warranty has expired:
The Audi Certified pre-owned Limited Warranty will cover two years as of the Audi Certified Pre-owned vehicle's delivery date or 100,000 total vehicle miles, whichever occurs first.

Glad you're getting the full period.

Default yeah I bought my car within the 4 year period so I was correct.......

I didn't know what the process was after the 4/50 expired....and I don't think that was your original question.......

...."In other words, if you buy a CPO car before the 4 year New Vehicle warranty expires you get 2 years or 100,000 miles extra, so a total of 6 years / 100K miles."....
