So... the A6 has this complicated multi-knuckle suspension up front. Is it realistic that you can put one up on jack stands? Is there any place for a jack stand to attach?
(Want to R&R my washer fluid tank -- I got the usual leak)

Actually, a very wise question. sure - find a point where one fo the control arms attaches to the subframe. That point - by definition - carries the full load of the car, as it bounces along potholes. Or finda reinforced part fo the box-frame and use a hockey puck to protect it.
Generally, the joints where large bolts hold important thinsg together are very strong.
Go s;low.

Your owner's manual may even show the jack points, as does the Bentley.

i presume, like most of us, he wants both a place to lift with the jack and a place to set it on stands.
The owner's manual does not contemplate that we would ever do anything but bring it to hans and franz for actual work.

Exactly... lift it with the factory jack (applied at the factory-recommended point) and put the jack stand "somewhere else" to establish a safe work environment. (Wheel chocks too.)
I'm not one to go too deep into this thing, I am by no means a car repair expert. But I just want to fix a washer tank leak which is a pretty low tech thing to do. The only real issue I can see is getting it up in the air a few inches so I can yank the wheel & wheel well liner. Other than that it's "monkey with a screwdriver" work -- which is something I am very, very good at. I can even hold a flashlight in my other hand ":^)
Thanks for the input, all.
