Default rear bumper & exhaust question... my bumper doesn't have the exposed

exhaust =(... and i know that miltek has an exhaust for my car but i would like for the exhaust tips to show like the newer models... would it be better to have a bodyshop cut out out my bumper for the exposed tips or would getting a newer bumper be better? Also.. the RS6 exhaust.. does that only fit the V8s or can it be fitted into my car (2.7T)? I love the oval tips on the RS6...

Default i dont think the rs6 exhaust fit. it only fits the 4.2, ppl have done it here...

so your options are getting a 2002 or newer rear bumper or cutting it out like you proposed. i would go for the 2002 rear, thats what im doin. laterz

Default cut your valence to let the taipipes straight out the back...

also, you don't need to buy the RS6 exhaust to get the tips. there are tons of places on the net selling SS exhaust tips you could add to a Miltek exhaust.

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/tips/doublewall.htm</a

Default Any tips that can be welded to the back of a pre-2002 stock muffler?

Love the look, don't need extra horsepower.

Default I just finished doing this to my 4.2. Save yourself $700 on a new bumper.....

and use a 5" hole saw to cut a perfect half cirlce in the lower half of the valence. Mine turned out perfect, although I did have to remove the plastic cover that is right behing the bumper to allow the muffler to go straight out the back.

You can save a lot of money by using a stainless steel muffler from Magnaflow or Borla and SS exhaust tips. I used the SS Magnaflow 4x9 mufflers w/ double walled SS 3" tips. It looks and sounds great. Not too loud but you notice the exhaust note, especially at WOT. I spent $210 on parts and another $75 on labor for installation. I haven't taken any pics yet but let me know if you want to see it and I'll post a few.

$75 seems good for installation - where did you have it done?

Default A local (Raleigh, NC) indy shop, Henry's Mufflers did it. Spent about 1.5 hrs. on it.

Highly recommend them if you are in the area. Very professional and pays attention to the details.
