Default Rear Cupholders In 2001 A64.2

The owners manual of my 2001 A64.2 shows the rear seat cup holders built into the middle front of the rear seat and easily accessed from the front seats. The cup holders in my car are in the fold down rear arm rest and are not accessable from the front. It's not a big deal, but I lost one front cup holder to my GPS system. I'm just curious if all 2001 A6 4.2's have the same set up that I do.

Refers to cupholders in 2.8 and 2.7T. Mine also in armrest, as I think all other 4.2s are. Not missing much with nav area cupholder. Who would drink in and possibly soil this beautiful interior, anyway? Blasphemy!!

Default My 2000 has the same setup...

however, the center-console cupholder is useless anyway, so you're not missing anything.

What Finman said. Manual is not 4.2 specific. However, I agree. $50K and one usable cup holder

One interesting thing about cupholders is the medical research/engineering analysis on airbag injuries. If you are using anything other than a paper or styrofoam cup, may an aluminum can, you have a potentially lethal missle when one of the airbags goes off. 200 mph airbag strikes 1/2 lb. ceramic/stainless steel cup ... A good rationalization (after the fact?) for the lower capacity Audi cupholders.

My 2000 4.2 has the rear cupholders in the rear armrest.

In my 01 2.7t the rear cupholders are built into the front face of the rear seat. One is stuck, it stuck the first time during the dealer demo, no replacement yet.I have the cold package which includes the ski sack. They put the first aid kit in the center arm rest(rear), so no cup holder there,

Default Take out the coin tray and put another cupholder in

Someone on the site took out the coin holder and put in another cupholder... The whole process takes minutes and looks stock... Then if you desprately need a coin holder, get the one that fits perfectly in the arm rest.

I don't think there is a coin tray in the 4.2. Space taken by ESP and others I think.
