Default Rear dome light

My rear dome light is not going on. When I disengage the power door locks, open the doors or manually with the switch. The two lights on either side of the light work, but the one in the middle does not go on. I have checked the obviou like the bulbs and the switch. I was wondering if their was a separate fuse for this light on the 4.2 models. Any help would be apprecated. Thanks

have you tried the light's switch to see if it goes on manually?

Default Take it out and inspect the circuit board closely

In my case I had to solder one of the loose contacts.

Default same problem. indy told me it's probably a short requiring headliner removal to fix.

i can actually hit the roof in the right spot and the light works for a little while. it's very weird.

Default I had this similar problem but it WOULD turn on when done manually.

Brought it to the dealer, tech states that they had to replace the whole dome light fixture.

Any resolution on this? My 4.2 is having the same problem. Light bulbs ohm out at 35. I have my soldering gun ready - what all needs to be removed?

My 2.7 has had that problem for as long as I can remember. It's either A. A short in your wiring system (very common) or B. a loose contact as Max A6 has said. First Car In My Name, you got it buddy. lol All I do is give it a couple good whacks when it starts acting up and bingo, light works for the next couple weeks. Then, couple whacks, works for a couple weeks. lol I'm so done dropping my damn hard earned cash into this poorly built car I refuse to fix it.

Oh btw, 2000-2004 Audi A6 makes the list of the top 10 least dependable cars.

"Worst of the worst

These vehicles have multiple years of much-worse-than-average reliability among 2000 to 2009 models. They're listed alphabetically.
Audi A6"
(ConsumerReports.com) - Oh look, may be alphabetic but we made #1 in the list! lol

Whoo! Go us. Today, my fuel pump decides to go out on me, leaving me stranded on campus waiting over 2 hrs for a tow truck to tow me home. Will be interesting to see how I get to work tomorrow morning at 4am Good luck with your rear dome bud!
