Rear Park Assist - How does it work?
I have that Rear Parking thing but it doesnt work. When I put it in reverse I get a 3-5 second beeep and than thats it. It doesnt work as I tested it. It says it should work at around 5ft, and it doesnt.
Anyone else have this issue? Also I dont get the radio read out in my tach screen. I've seen that on other 01 A6's

Ultrasonic sensors (4) in the rear bumper sense objects. If there i a probelm with the parktronic system, VAG COM can pull the error codes. The module can even tell you which sensor is bad (if that is the case). Typically, if there is a bad sensor, it just stops working. That would be my guess as to your problem, but confirm via VAG COM scan.

Sounds like a faulty sensor to me, mine did the same thing. You vag-com to scan the car for fault codes and see which one is faulty. Also is your radio a standard Audi item or has it been changed to an aftermarket model? Aftermarket models don't show up on the DIS display.
