Default rear wheel bearing sizes interchangable??

Hey all I needed to replace my rear knuckle and I bought one that I believe has the 75mm Wheel bearing and mine has the 82mm. Is it possible to just press out one bearing and put the old one onto the new part or are the knuckles themselves different sizes? Also would it be possible to put a 75mm axle on and just use the 75mm bearing? I'm looking for the cheapest way that will work.

Thanks!!

Default Don't know what your "rear knuckle" is, but the bearing sizes that you quote are bearing ODs and...

must press fit into the bearing housing.

Default Rear wheel hub size for bearing?

Are the 75mm and the 82mm the same outer diameter? so the hub can fit both sizes? I checked my etka and the hubs p/n's are:
8e0 505 436 l 75mm
8e0 505 436 n 75mm
8e0 505 436 p 82mm
8e0 505 436 j 82mm

They look identical except where the bearing is.

Default I don't have a clue as to what you are talking about or trying to do! Apparently you have the...

etka and must have Bentley? Ask your Qs using std. terminology. Pics?

Default Re: I don't have a clue as to what you are talking about or trying to do! Apparently you have the...

bently didn't seem to help me much here.

I have a hub from a passat/a6 2.8 that has a 75mm bearing

My hub is broken (from 2.7 a6) and it has a 82mm bearing.

Everything bolts up fine except for the axle into the bearing they won't match up.

So I'm wondering if the bearings are interchangeable or if the axles are interchangable?

Default Firstly, how does one break a hub? Further, the axle doesn't mate with the bearing, itmates with ...

the hub. Seams obvious that you can not use a 75mm bearing in your 82mm bearing housing. Your replacement hub must both fit the half shaft's CV joint spline and the ID of the 82mm bearing. Further, the hub's wheel mounting face needs to be the same distance from the bearing housing's bearing seat as was the original. You go figure!
