Default I don't get it...

It takes the same amount of energy to be rude than it does to be polite; being rude unfortunately won't get you any where.

Default Hey Urinal, I myself am an Audi sales rep, I treat people very very well....

but that's because my parents raised me right. I have manners (IMO of myself, LOL) and being polite is not some act I put on for people. Its part of who I am.

Default Geez! Now why doesn't this surprise me!

You go get 'em!!

Maybe you can at least make a difference as a respectable Audi salesman!

We need more like you!

Default There is always a way to say the same thing, without cheesing off the customer:)

"Well sir, I can show you the invoice/ACV, but let me ask you this - Do you ( a complete stranger ) ask the place where you buy your groceries or your clothing, for their invoices - over the phone? If you are ready to purchase this car for a fair amount, I'd be more than happy to share the invoice/ACV with you. When would you like to make an appointment so we can discuss this in person?"

Asking to see an invoice or ACV over the phone is considered insulting in the car world. They would like to at least look you in the eye to see how serious you really are. No dealer likes to negotiate over the phone - too many people try to use their experience for a sounding board, with no intentions of visiting the dealer or buying a car from them. He was on the abrupt and rude side to say the least.

If you really want the car, go there in person.

If it really upsets you, write a letter to the GM, and principle.

Default 100% commission. Dealerships can't get decent people on 20% of the profit margin on selling VWs.

Of course it comes down to chicken and egg. If they knew how to sell, they could make more. But if they knew how to sell, they'd be working for a brand with higher margins. Even Audi dealers can't hang onto people.

Default April, he's in NY, car is in Oregon........

...maybe the proper way to do that is via fax. I almost bought that red S6 at Carlsen - if they hadn't decided to play games with financing at the end....

Default OK. That makes it complicated. Not many deals actually fly long distance even

if both parties are willing. Something often sends the deal sideways. Sounds like this dealer is not very motivated. Plenty of those old school type managers still floating around. They come from a salesperson background and haven't really expanded their horizons beyond that.
