I am going in for service on my wife's A6 next and I was told that they have reconditoned A6 wheels..The right front wheel was used as a curb feeler and just looks terrible...I cut my hand twice while trying to clean the wheel..I am curious as to the appearance of the recon. wheel..

I can make you a deal on a new set(700 miles) A6 2.7t sport wheels/tires.
Sorry, haven't seen reconditioned wheels to tell you thy look like. If they are painted properly they should be as good as new.
JohnC

I have had wheels repaired, straightened and refinished for cars over the years. There are several reputable places to try on your own. Most likely the dealer is just having the wheels done somewhere locally.
Recently had one of the alloys on my 98 A6Q straightened- $65. I have had the forged alloys from my 911 Carrera refinished- repaint the centers and polish the lips- $125. Just depends on the place doing the work for you. I have seen wheels which were "repaired which broke at the place repairs had been made. If they are done right, as long as the damage isn't too bad, there should be no long term ramifications.
If your wheel is rough enough that it cuts your hand, probably shouldn't be repaired. Just curious, how much do they want for a recon'd wheel?
98 A6Q
