refresh my memory for me...what's the hp/tq limit on the 04.5 S-line 2.7t tip transmission?

i dont think theres a set limit...
some tips blow up at 250hp, and some are fine pushing 350+hp
but speaking generally, your might be pushing the limits at or around stage 2. if your considering much more than just a chip, and this car will be a daily driver, you might want to look into an ungraded TC or valve body... i have a 6 speed, so someone else might need to chime in and confirm my thoughts

gotcha...no plans at this time to do anything more than x-chip
not even my car yet...I've been missing my A4 since its untimely end and i've been looking to get into another Audi...while it's not a 6spd, my dad's S-Line A6 comes off lease in August...I could buy it certified in the low twenties, which is very tempting given the fact that I know the car and its history (hell, i've probably taken the car to half of the services myself)..just doing some mod related research ahead of time...plans right now off the bat are GIAC X-Chip, upgrade the diverter valves (they're on the ones that came from the factory with 40k plus on them), possibly put in an APR snub mount...

thanks...i'll look into OCT, but part of the reason i'm planning to go GIAC is the tuner
i've got a local tuner that I trust and has treated me well over the years...they're a GIAC dealer and I know GIAC offers a good product...i've got some time to do research though...thanks for the heads up Ming!
