Dude, they are definitely fluid filled. I have a leaking one and am replacing with RS4's.

The stuff that comes out is purple goo. There is a good tech writeup for the B5 A4. The 2.7 is a little more tricky needing to pull back the turbo inlet pipes. I'll be doing this Friday.

PS the RS4 mounts are not fluid filled.

yes I know how to take them out.. i'm going to go cut up my friend's

S4 motor mount to see if there is fluid or not.

not only fluid filled, the mounts on a 4.2 are electrically actuated!

... no joke!

I know you've been way beyond this as far as engine pulls but I wanted to post some instructions
