Hi,
I'm Marco and I just bought a 2011 Audi A6 3.0 Supercharged model. From what the Audi dealer told me, Audi themselves will not put a remote start in any of their vehicles because of how intricate the electrical system is in their cars. Not sure if this is fact or not, so I figured I would ask the folks on the forum. So, in the meantime, what I have been doing is to go outside, and start the car. This was not a big deal until I discovered that even if the proximity key is nowhere near the car, anyone walking by can just get in it and drive away. I was shocked at this as I at the very least would have expected the car to stall as soon as someone without the key put their foot on the brake pedal. Not the case. Also, as some of you may be asking...why didn't you just lock the car? Well, I tried locking the car with the remote, but it wont lock with it running. So, after talking with the dealer about this, his suggested work around was to walk out and start the car, then as I open the door to get out, press the lock button on the door (which will lock all doors but the driver door), and then close the driver door and use the actual "key" to manually lock it.
I just want to get some feed back on whether or not...a) Audi will not install a remote start in their cars, b) if in fact a person that does not have the proximity key on them can just drive away with the car while left running, and c)is the dealers solution, the only solution.
So, just to be clear, I am NOT starting the car by putting the key in the ignition.
Thanks for any feedback!
Marco

He started in the C7 forum without much luck. The 2011 A6 is a C6 so that should be the next stop.

b) no audi experience here, our C5s have blade keys... but don't most remote starters look for the brake pedal to be pressed to turn/off disable? (you wouldn't be able to get it in drive & keep it running?)
c) wires are wires & electronics are electronics... anything is possible with the right technician.
