Default Removing center air vents on the dash.

Hello guys,
I have a 2000 A6 4.2L, and I am trying to install my 7" GPS unit. I want to remove the center air vents (from looking at it, I shouldn't require to remove the center console, the headunit stuff and any of the dash component. Am I correct?
Does anyone know how I can remove it? this includes the metallic bracket and the 2 center air vents.
Thanks guys.
Pictures will be great!

Gilbert

Default IIRC...

On most of the A4 & A6's, there is a tool in the Bentley that you use to pull the vents out. It boils down to a wire hook that you feed into the vent through the slats and pull... nothing real special. Not sure about the surrounding bezel/area.

Default There are pull tabs inside the vent.

Default What do you mean by pull it in?

I found those 4 tabs in the center air vents also.
But what do you mean by pull them in? I listed the possible actions I think of below.

1) Do I clamp onto the tabs and push the top tabs upward and bottom tabs downward??
2) Do I clamp onto the tabs and pull the top tabs downward and bottom tabs upward??
3) Do I use a flat head and push each one inward? (the direction of movement is like from outside of the airvent to the inside)
4) Do I clamp onto the tabs, and pull each one outward? (the direction of movement is like from inside of the airvent to the outside)

Thanks alot man.
Since it is visible and seen by everyone.. I don't want to screw it up and make it ugly.
So please clarify.. Thanks.
