removing rear seats, anyone have experience with the folding portion?

not in the A6, but in the A4, you have to remove the bolster on the side, then unbolt the hinge...
the seat lifts out of the hinge in the center of the car.. you unbolt the hinges on the outer sides. I can only guess that the A6 is similar, if not exactly the same.
