Replace rotors at 56,000 miles ???
Hi,
Could someone confirm that it is not unusual to replace both front and back rotors at 56,000 miles already? The car is a family vehicle and has been driven conservatively. Model A6 Wagon 2001 2.8 L Quattro.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Replace rotors at 56,000 miles ???
wow, i got quoted $160 for each front rotor, all in all a 1,000 bucks fix for front and back rotors and pads. I hate Japanese plastic cars, but the Accura's rotors last 110,000 miles.....

I think it is unusual. My fronts always warp long before that :-)
My rear rotors were fine at 49k. Not sure if they were ever done pre-me.
I would say its a bit short for the rears, but they wont go twice that, so ......

$1K sounds like a pork job to me...
I have an '01 A6 2.8Q and purchased it with about 57K on the clock. A few thousand miles later the brake warning light came on. Turned out I had to replace front rotors, turn back rotors (cannot always be done from what they told me), new front pads, and new back pads. All this was done for just shy of 6 bills. Granted, they were pretty much OEM stock replacements, but they get the job done, and I didn't need anything too fancy on the car.
