Default Replacing Bose subs with Bazooka?

I just wish the low end had a bit more kick and have an old school Bazooka lying around in the garage. Doesn't look like it requires much power and I wonder if I could "simply" plug the bazooka in instead of the using the Bose amps. It is self powered and won't be using the rear amp at all. I haven't looked at it in years, but think it's an 8 inch, and they don't list the power output for the discontinued models. I'd say 40 watts @ 2ohms.

I would just use the stereo input wires, and the power wire. That would enable me to return it to stock easily. I don't want to start bringing cables in from the engine bay because I might start thinking that an 8 gauge isn't enough... and you know where that road takes us.

So can I use the power cable that feeds the Bose subs for a small amp?

Can I use the (high level?) audio input that goes to the Bose (pre-amp) and use a device I have to convert it to RCA?

I STFA on this last year, and I believe you can. Lots of good info on audio in our cars. Everything you need is in the search. I decided that running a direct tap was the only way, and have not had the time to finish the project yet.

I'm surprised your old Bazooka requires RCA cable and doesn't have speaker level inputs! I would think your plan could work. My only issue is concerning the power wire. I think those old bass tubes were rated at 85 watts and drew something along the lines of 10 amps (lots of thermal in-efficiency in those amps). Check the power lines and the size of the fuse to make sure it can support it. Nobody likes popping fuses, or worse - FIRE!
