Default Replacing Horn In trunk

So, I lock my car door with the remote. Twice. And it makes this disgusting noise. Searched the threads, and I see that its normal.

Anyone replace it Out with another unit? Installation notes?

I dont want to cut it off with the VAG. I'd like it to sound a little loud. So I could actually tell the car is being stolen.

Default The other part of this equation

I don't think people always think about what would happen if you actually heard your alarm and ran outside and confronted the thief. He's probably not the nicest person in the world and is carrying at best some tools, at worst a knife or gun. OK, so now what do you do, esp. since you can identify him to the cops?

I'd also like to a louder alternative to our muffled alarm horn.

Default We all would like to think we would be heros... but

Most of us would just yell 'hey.. dont steal my car!' and hope other people would hear.

I just figure it would be nice to know your car is in the process of being stolen.

The horn isnt so much for the Criminal stealing it, because I have insurance.

Its more for the fact that people look at me as If I have farted when I lock that trunk.

Default I've considered the option of routing it to the 'real' horns, but...

...another C5er (forgot who) in the MidAtlantic forum mantioned that he connected a 'real' horn to the one in the trunk and it sounded identical. Based on that input, I think the signal sent to the horn is so short that the horn can't get fully 'fired up', so running the signal to the real horns would be in vain. I imagine you'd need to prolong the duration of the signal to make the horns fully activate and get loud.
Either way, I have more important things to spend my time/money on.

In Texas, if he is on your property and you feel threatened, its okay to shoot him. Most likely, if you miss him and your neighbor hears the shot he'll come out and give it a try too.

I like the sound of the new models, at least that sounds like some kind of alarm device.

Default All I know is that someone would be getting their a$$ kicked if I caught a thief in the act.

And that "someone" could very well be me.
