Anyone tried this on a '04 A4. Unfortunately the VAG trick won't work on the '04 like it did on my '02 A4. Must have to do with the auto HL switch which wasn't on my '02. wish it didn't have it as I never use it.

Yesterday evening I successful re-vag'd my A4 2002 using the instructions here...

no-fuss no-muss, and most importantly no extra wires

my buddy has the VAG-com so that would definitely be easier if it will work for the 99 Avant, which has the rear wiper and the heated steering wheel. Will those same codes work on the 99?

After completing the rewire exactly as pictured (using 10amp fuses in place of 15amp), the mod works great. I can use my fog lamps with only the parking lights on.
However, after about 15 minutes or so, the lights turn off (the interior indicator goes from green back to red as well). Any reason for this? Is something heating up? The fuses are not broken and if I shut the car off and come back later it works for a while again.

You have to reinstall the 15 amp fuse into the fuse tap next to the 10 amp fuse that you install into the fuse slot for the steering wheel. If you only install one fuse into will power the fog lamps, but since the other slot is empty its like you removed the fuse from the steering wheel slot all together. I assume its the internal design of the fuse taps shown in the picture which i used on my 2000 A6, w/ steering wheel radio controls.
