This is my first post to this forum.
I'm about to order a 2001 A6 4.2, but I'm having trouble deciding on the exterior color. I know I want the Melange interior, and I think I'm going to order the Andorra Red pearl effect exterior (after considering Cashmere Gray pearl effect).
What I would like are some opinions about the Andorra Red / Melange color combination. Pros and cons, etc. Thanks in advance.

Personally, I think the Andorra red and melange interior would be a knockout. I am getting Nemo blue w/ melange, however. I love steel-gray blues. Melange is more mundane. It doesn't draw too much attention (from onlookers or la policia). This can be one benefit of Melange. The only real con with the Andorra red is that will be harder than melange to keep clean. My advice, pick which color car you can picture getting into everyday. Good Luck!

It really comes down to if YOU like it or not. I think the combo would be fine. I have the melange interior with the racing green exterior. I love it, as does everyone that comments (maybe I just have well-mannered friends). I would rather have the andorra red than the cashmere grey (again, subjective). The only thing I would add is that in the '00 brochure, the andorra looks like it might be purple-y in certain lights. Admittedly I have not seen many (any?) in person. Regardless of what you choose, it'll still go like stink! Good luck.

My standard advice stands - too personal for us to decide. You need to see the actual car, with the actual color interior, sitting right in front of you. And then you also need to see it in sun, shade and at night. The only way to know if the color works.
My cashmere gray (ahem) changes color in different lighting, but I like them all.

I believe you are incorrect. (But please correct me if I am wrong!) I, too, have the 2001 code sheets for the 4.2 dated Mar. 3. It shows Andorra Red with color code 2H2H. Where did you get your code sheet? Maybe there has been an update? FWIW, the Andorra Red was not offered on the 2000 4.2's, at least in NA.

Per latest order sheets from Audi USA, Two A6 colors have been discontinued for 2001 (all models); Andorra Red and Jaspis Green. One interior color has been discontinued, royal blue. In consequence, I have just ordered racing green with vanilla/onyx interior (my first choice was light silver with royal blue). Melange just doesn't do it for me, it's exactly like the "oak" interior on the 4Runner Limited I have now.
