Default Aren't the factory clunkers fairly heavy too?

It didn't occur to me they'd be heavier than stock, but I'm definitely aware of unsprung weight.
I'm not so concerned on acceleration hindrance as I am with handling issues, which is a definite concern.

I'm kinda funny when it comes to "performance", having tuned a lot of cars and driven a lot of 500-700 RWHP cars, nothing under 500HP gives me any kind of psychological thrill, so for a daily driver, its all about the driving experience, not the acceleration. 300HP is the same as 200HP for me, because I get no thrill out of hammering it (The Ron Jeremy syndrome =o)

While the 2.7TT is a fine ride, I drove one, yawned my *** off and decided to save my pennies for now and buy a 2.8 (a bigger yawn), since neither really has impressive acceleration but both are great daily drivers.

The cars are screwed together really well, drive nicely and just ooze quality...the main reason I like the brand so much.

Default The "Wineglass" wheels that were OEM on non-sport 2.8s were 16", so they'd likely be a BUNCH...

..lighter than any 19s other than something spindly and forged.

I speak from similar experience, since I've weighed all the wheels I've had on my car which include:

OEM 9 spoke 18" x 8" - 29 lbs.
RS 6 replicas (5 spoke)18" x 8.5" - 30 lbs.
OZ Superleggeras 18" x 8" - 18 lbs.
OEM B5 S4 wheels 17" x 7.5" - 26 lbs.
OEM C5 4.2 forged sport wheels 17" x 8" 26 lbs.
B7 RS4 reps - 23.8 lbs.

I can tell you that there is a big difference in feel (to me) between a 24 lb. wheel, which is about what I'm guessing the Wineglass wheels weigh, and the 31+ lbs. I'm betting that the DTM 19" will weigh.

All wheels are a compromise of styling, weight and strength, so I'm not suggesting that you change your choice; I just wanted to point out something that I thought you might want to think about before pulling the trigger.

Default I'll check the weight. If they are more than 27 lbs.......

I'll go 18's, if those are still too heavy I'l go B7 RS4's

Default Got an answer from Hartmann

DTM RS4 18 = 25.4 lbs
No problem with that.

19's are 28 lbs, though getting high!

With that info, I'd probably go 18!

Default They must have changed the spec on the wheel, then, because I called them...

...about a year ago with the same question, and they told me that the DTMs were heavier than the RS 6 reps in the same size/width.

Or perhaps I was comparing 8.5" to 8.5" width, and you're looking at 8"?

In any case, 25.4 lbs for the 18s, if accurate, is perfectly fine, as you say.

Best of luck with them, then!

Default These are the B7 RS4's on my allroad.

I have 20mm wider flares than the stock allroad and am running 30mm spacers.

You might be better off with replica B7 RS4 wheels from Achtuning (get the forged ones IMO) which would have a more appropriate offset for your car. They do look nice IMO...

Default Looks fast (!!!!) Torqueyness (sp?) is a relative thing. The 2.7T's torque curve is like a flat...

...topped "butte", which you can definitely feel in everyday driving.

The 2.8's torqe curve looks like Mt. Fuji, with a steep slope on both sides of a peak.

All I was really getting at is that the extra intertia of heavy rims may well be quite noticeable off the line, particularly in a relatively torque-deficient car like the 2.8.

Enjoy, whatever you end up buying, and don't forget to post pics when it's complete!

I know what you're saying.

The nasty thing about that cobra is the torque curve was dead flat from 3000-to 5800 RPM, making over 550 ft lbs at 3000 RPM, LOL!!!!!

It was just a ridiculous machine; lots of fun. 70 MPH burnouts on the highway.

But like they say: It was an expensive drive train in a very inexpensive car.

Default How's the quality on the Discount Tire Reps?

These are the ones I'm interested in for the B7 A4 as well and have been considering the Hartmann wheels. These are much less though so I am wondering how fit and finish is and how they compare to Hartmann?
