In general, people have had mixed results with RNS-Es purchased from eBay. This one does not appear to include some of the extra things you'll need to get it installed such as US software and maps, cable adapters to install it in your car, etc.
There are several sellers on navplus.us who are highly regarded and sell complete plug and play packages, with all the proper connectors and the RNS-E pre-configured for your car.
I bought mine through a seller named powertony via navplus and although the US-EU wire took some time, he stayed in constant contact and I got everything I needed to just plug the RNS-E right in.

not that there's anything wrong with buying one from ebay, but you should buy it from the same person who's going to install it....btw i love mine

What would you consider an average price of complete unit?
I got one quote of $1599 from navplus.us seller?
This ebay seller is asking $1050 US without adapter
If anyone has any other advice...thanks for your input so far.

If you are going to cheap out, go with a portable GPS like Garmin. I love the factory ones, but they cost so much I don't think it is worth it.
Just like the DVD players in SUV's and Minivans. The manufacturers are making a killing on these when there are much better alternatives in the aftermarket, plus portability!
If I lived in a place where I really needed navi like the east coast, California, Europe or Asia I would have one, but here in Utah, we use the grid system, it is straight forward and I would never use navi.

I don't have one yet, and I've talked and met with several that do have one, it's an excellent mod, but with everything that's involved in it, it's best to buy from one of the navplus sellers and get everything you need, no worrying about getting halfway through and not having everything, or not having the right region coding. I plan to buy one within the next year, and it'll be through a navplus seller, as I'd rather not have any more headaches.
