I should add that the trouble codes are 16684 (P0300) Misfire Recognized, and 16686 (P0302) Misfire Detected Cylinder 2, both recorded as intermittent.
Since each coil drives two cylinders, I'd be surprised if it was a coil.

The MAF-induced problem would only last the first 10-25 seconds after cold start? Seems like a bad MAF would cause broader problems. Were your symptoms as specific and limited as mine?

My 2002 A6 does the rough idle in the a.m., but sometimes as long as 10 minutes. Doesn't do it every day. Error messages showed three cylinders misfiring but that can't be true because it runs perfect after the first few minutes. Anybody consider it's the computer?? Anybody come up with a solution that works?
