Default RS-6 requires a special oil!

Audi just issued a TSB that says the RS-6 must use a special 5W-40 synthetic that's only available from the dealers. Use of any other oil will void the warranty. I wonder what it is; to my knowledge Audi doesn't own any refineries, so they must be buying it from one of the usual sources. Special additives, maybe?

Default Shell Helix. The famous Ferrari Enzo $60 a quart oil.

The Ferrari takes twelve quarts.
Good thing Audi pays for oil changes in the US.

Default Different Oil Voids Warranty!?

Audi does not want anyone other then Audi dealerships to service RS 6's it seems.

Wonder what happens if you change oil yourself? Not that most RS 6 owners would do that sort of thing (assuming) but others here preach about such practice.

Default IIRC, Pentosin makes a 5w-40 full synthetic. I think AoA got tired of spending so much $

doing warranty repairs on the S4's that the dealers put **** oil into for the AoA funded maintenance work. My dealer used to put in 15w-40 dino oil and told me to **** off when I complained to them; AoA told me not to worry about it when I complained to them that my dealer was going directly against the owner's manual specifications. Maybe AoA is able to learn after all!

Default I bet BMW M Series and Porsche have similar restrictions

Hell, Honda UK denied an engine warranty claim for someone because they didn't check their oil level at EVERY gas fill-up like the manual said.
