RS6 Alternatives? AWD, 400+ HP, "daily driver"
You guys are great 993/996 and E55 sales people. Seriously!
Before visiting this forum, I had already ruled out the possibility of the 993/996 because I wanted an "everyday" super car. I nixed the E55 because I wanted AWD to help me combat these New England winters.
That gave me only one option: the Audi RS6.
Or so I thought. I'm very interested to hear what your opinions are on the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Should I even be thinking of it in the same breath as the RS6? We already have an X5 in our stable and I really didn't want another "truck". However, I went on the Porsche page and took a virtual test drive of the Cayenne. After "starting" the engine and listening to it, I thought, "This is no X5!"
I'm just curious to see how many of you out there theoretically would be just as happy with a Cayenne Turbo over an RS6. I never realized this, but they are in the same ballpark in terms of pricing, plus or minus ten grand. I'm trying to get someone to play devil's advocate here because I still seem to have a blinding desire for the RS6.

I would take the Cayenne over the RS6! One is a Porsche and the other is, well,
an Audi. Porsche or Audi? There is no question! The fit, finish and quality are going to be above the Audi, with less problems.
If I were you and $ was not an issue, I would dump the X5, buy a Cayenne and a E55.

Not necessarily true
Audi's fit and finish is just as good or better than Porsche, BMW and Mercedes. Audi's reliability is generally equal to Porsche, BMW and Mercedes. Sometimes lower, sometimes higher. Audi owners are just excessively intolerable of the mostly minor problems. Porsche, BMW and newer Mercedes owners are much more tolerable of these same mostly minor problems. Many people here on AW would back me up on all of this as they have also stated all of this themselves several times before.

You're way off! I recently compared a Carrera and an A6 sitting side...
by side in a showroom. The Audi paint was FAR superior, as were the seams, materials, etc. The seam between fender and hood on my wife's Porsche averages 1/4 inch!

Re: Not necessarily true
First, fit and finish, quality of materials in RS6 beats hands down not only full leather Porsche but also M5 and new E55,second,in recent test by EVO or Autocar(don't remember)the tester said :"after driving Cayenne Turbo,my RS6 felt extremely fast"
Draw your own conclusion.

my Turbo IS an everyday car!

I have 6k mi in 6mo. While I do confess to not having proper snow tires for winter weather, several of my forum buddies do, as I should, their cars never miss a single day. Mine only misses a few due to slippery roads, but that's what the S6's for! You must have some hidden meaning behind that "everyday" statement, because on face value your arguement against the Turbo as an everyday car doesn't hold water with me. Maybe you could help us read between the lines?
btw, I'm cancelling my spot in line for the RS6 tomorrow, btw. Want to keep my "Wagon" config too much to give up my S6.

How about it Goodwoody, Porsche or Audi for quality/overall?
I know it is to seperate cars. I assume the Porsche would be better. No complaints from my newest Audi so far, but I assume that a Porsche would be better.
Maybe I'm wrong?

I'd give a slight edge to Porsche
My Turbo has never once been into the shop in 6k mi, and the S6 in 8k mi, has been in twice for very minor stuff, like underseat trim coming loose, radio dying due to a simple blown fuse, and a rear cupholder messing up.
