I thought the CTS-V was the Vette motor. Regular CTS has OHC motor.

Default OOPS! I thought you meant in the race cars. In the street cars, you are correct....

CTS-V= LS6
ZO6 = LS6
regular 'vette = LS1
GTO = LS1

The Caddie race car, however, hass a destroked 427cu block originally designed and used in the Corvette C5R race cars.

Default I did mean the race cars. Isn't the Caddy race car based on the CTS-V?

In theory, yes. Reality is not really. I think GM thinks this is NASCAR ;-)

This was the first race w/ the wider front tires, wasn't it? That probably had an effect.
