Default I'd think they would just order boxes with a different gear from the supplier.

This isn't really all that expensive. It adds cost, but for the thousands of RS6's they built world-wide, (not a lot of 'thousands', but nevertheless) it wouldn't add that much to spec different gears...

pure conjecture, of course...

Default Possibly, part numbers are different, but why?

RS6 S6 and A6 racks all have different part numbers (even from the V8 to V6).

The ratio in the RS6 is different -> fewer turns lock to lock -> more responsive feeling...

Default Well, we've gone clear around the guessing game loop and back to sq 1, and can't distinguish between

overall steering ratio and rack ratio. Let's drop it!
