Default Yes, I would be very interested in hearing the before and after sound file,

Of course the "before" would be somewhat of a sleeper ;-) I think Brian4.2 has the best V8 exhaust that I've yet heard. I don't recall the brand but it made all the right sounds without being at all overwhelming, resonant, or out of place in a family car. (Upon rereading that maybe I am the old fart my kids accuse me of being....)

Default The fact that you have a 1000 miles means you can now start pushing

the car, but it does not mean you car is fully run-in. By 2000 miles you "breathing" problem should have improved and by 3000 miles totally disappeared.

As for the suspension, your report seems to confirm my suspicion that Avants are softer than Sedans. However, sometime ago I reported that I had driven Warren's re-mapped S6, which was softer than my S6.
On my S6, dropping the suspension by 1" has improved the little body roll there was, to nearly nothing, but now I'm cornering faster and the tyres are taking a hell of a beating. Those poor Conti's are screaming like a pig being castrated, and the top part of the side wall is being seriously worn out.

IMHO, I agree entirely with you as for the mirrors, the Aluminium ones look like donkeys' ears

Default Re Alum mirrors; Allroad, sure; A6, maybe; but S6? No Way

But as they say, ymmv. I just don't see the attraction personally for a "top-drawer" Sports Sedan/(Avant).
It's funny you should say that about the Conti Sports. Some of the guys on the 996/Turbo board aren't very happy with their Conti Sport 2's vs the P-zero's. Audi should have given us S6 guys the Conti Sport 2's (at least), and left them off the Porsche entirely. Again, ymmv. Stay tuned, KM stage 1 coilovers, and (possibly) exhaust going on this wk.
I would really like to see a torque/hp curve for this S6 engine. Does this engine really thrive in the upper rev range? While running errands yesterday, I noticed that, (to my ears at least), the engine seemed ready to shift at around 5400. Maybe being accustomed to the sounds of my last V8(s), the 10 yrs of LPE 6.3L 475 hp Vettes, (2 cars,'91/'99), has got my aural senses messed up. It was time to shift that beast at 5800, absolutely no more than 6k (rev-limited). I know, different engine altogether. Even the P-Turbo revs out sooner than the S6. But, of course, it's a flat 6.

Default You'll eventually get used to the higher pitch of the Audi S6 V8. Mine feels perfectly

happy at 7000 rpm.

If you go to the link, you'll find my S6 dyno data and graphs, standard and after the ECU has been re-mapped.

S6 Dyno Data
